Role Description
As a member of our team, you will:
Develop MEP construction drawings for residential, commercial, and institutional facilities and manage AHJ plan checks and regulatory approvals.
Research renewable energy integration, contribute to green roof and living wall design, and complete applicable LEED documentation to enhance sustainability.
Implement innovative solutions that drive environmental impact and community well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare preliminary and final plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules using AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Develop 3D models for all building systems and components using BIM tools such as Revit, BIM360, and Navisworks.
Use clash detection to identify and resolve conflicts and integrate time and cost data into models for 4D/5D BIM project planning.
Perform energy modeling using software such as Elite CHVAC 7.0, DOE AIRMaster+, Wrightsoft Right-Suite Universal, Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE 700, Trane TRACE 3D Plus, EnergyPro 9, eQUEST, open-source CBECC-Com and CBECC-Res, along with industry standards like Manual J (Load Calculation), Manual N (Duct Design), Manual S (Equipment Selection), and Manual D (Detailed Duct Design), as well as SMACNA.
Understanding of energy codes and design standards, including ANSI/ASHRAE 90.1 – Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, ASHRAE 62.1 – Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), and ASHRAE 55-2023 – Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy for heat gain calculations.
Ensure energy compliance (including Title 24 in California) and use COMcheck to demonstrate compliance with mechanical and electrical systems.
Develop cost estimates for budget planning, material takeoffs, and labor and equipment expenses using tools such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam Revu, ProEst, and RSMeans Data Online.
Optimize construction management workflows using Procore software, including RFIs, submittals, document control, scheduling, and project coordination.
Apply principles of applications engineering, including psychometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and control systems.
Apply codes from the ICC (IBC, IMC, IPC, CBC), UMC, UPC, ASHRAE, CALGreen, CEC (Title 24), SMACNA, NFPA (NEC) to ensure compliance with building and MEPF systems standards, including safety and energy efficiency.
